Episode 2: The Business of Gear with KADRI Clothing

It’s no surprise that gear designed for men does not fit women. However, it’s a lot of work to design for women’s bodies and deliver that gear to those that need it. Katheryn Basso, owner of KADRI Clothing, explains how they are getting the proper fitting gear to our female operators in this episode.

SHOWNOTES

About Kadri Clothing

- Kathryn Basso, owner of KADRI Clothing, spent 12 years in Marine Corps. Her background provides a unique perspective into the needs of KADRI’s customers.

 - KADRI Clothing’s mission is to equip and support women in the adventure-tactical communities (female warfighter and first responder) that are mostly male-dominated and male-oriented industries.

- Women with tactical roles, most of the time, don’t have the gear, uniforms, or even apparel to be efficient with their duties. Women are left with uncomfortable options; they can either find clothes that fit them which have no pockets because industries do not believe women need pockets since they carry a purse, or they have functional clothes that are completely the wrong fit because they are specifically made for men.

- Poor fitting gear is the leading cause of injury for all service members, which could be avoided if women were just properly geared and had proper clothes.

- KADRI Clothing prides itself in proper fit, practical function, and durable design. In fact, their very first product is already out in production. The Valkyrie Field Pant is a women-specific design tactical pant with 11 functional pockets not only made for military, but also for law enforcements and first responders. The pockets are designed and useful for their specific occupations.

FirstSpear and KADRI Clothing Collaboration

- FirstSpear and KADRI Clothing collaborated to develop, produce, and distribute an advanced apparel line for the armed-professional female.

- FirstSpear is known to have cutting edge industry experience, new technology, and proven manufacturing quality.

- With their collaboration, they are filling the current gap in innovation and quality needed to support the female tactical forces and first responders. With their partnership, KADRI Clothing can provide the apparel and tools needed to thousands of women who serve in the tactical forces and outdoor occupations.

- Instead of simply modifying products originally developed for men, KADRI’s designs focused on the specific requirements and demands of women in the security and defense industry.

- The CEO of FirstSpear, Scott Carver, saw women’s gear and apparel as part of the emerging technology that they have taken pride in.  He knew that there was going to be a need, hence their collaboration with KADRI Clothing.

- Scott Carver’s vision is not only to buy or design it for KADRI Clothing, but he wanted to help KADRI Clothing set up the company so that KADRI will be successful on their own.

- They have combined their strengths and gone into the market together to leverage their experiences in their respective industries in order to fill the void in female tactical apparel and bring advancements in the military and law enforcements they serve.
